Know the Importance of Vehicle Emission Test
An emission test is one of the most important things of a vehicle inspection. You will not be able to pass the entire inspection in case of a failing emission test. And you will not be permitted to drive your vehicle on the road.
Driving with a failed inspection may result in a heavy fine or even seizing of a vehicle. Know how this test works and why light utility or heavy-duty vehicle E-Testing is necessary.
Why is an Emission Test Important?
Diesel and Gasoline both fuel contains hydrocarbons compounds. In a standard car engine, oxygen would react with hydrogen to make water and carbon to create CO2 (carbon dioxide). However, the procedure of combustion is far from perfect. As a result, vehicle engines have an emission control system designed to lower the amount of toxic gas released into the air.
Some pollutants damage the atmosphere and can also lead to severe health issues. For instance, nitrogen oxide makes smog when exposed to sunlight. Pollution can do substantial damage to the respiratory system, irritate the eyes and aggravate any breathing condition. Carbon monoxide decreases the oxygen level in the blood and can be more dangerous for people with heart syndrome. In addition, diesel engines often generate a large amount of smoke (with carbon particles) that can cause health problems. Many amorphous carbon particles can travel long distances, damage plants, and harm animals and property.
Climate Change
A vehicle’s combustion engine produces a range of carbon dioxide, which can cause climate change. CO2 and other greenhouse gases combine to trap the earth’s heat instead of letting it escape through the air. Thus, many experts believe storms, droughts, severe floods, heatwaves, and other climate-related disasters have increased.
More than 35% of all carbon dioxide emissions and more than 55% of the emission produces from Gasoline-powered vehicles, including SUVs, loading vehicles and trucks. The remaining emissions come from diesel engine vehicles, aeroplanes, ships, and construction machines.
How does it affect you?
The state government sets the standards regarding the maximum permissible level of pollutants. If a state does not meet the criteria, it is required to execute pollution control programs to lower the pollution levels. Most of the cities in Canada have implemented car inspection emission tests at Ontario Emission Testing Centre to make sure that cars and heavy-duty vehicles run as cleanly as possible. Annual car inspections pinpoint vehicles that pollute the air due to faulty emission control systems, allowing drivers to repair their cars and help to make a clean environment.
